The Federal Government of Nigeria released a list of guidelines for the easing of the lockdown in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun states, in light of the pandemic. The guidelines include;
TRAVEL
Passenger flights are prohibited.
Interstate travel is prohibited except essential services are involved.
All returnees will be mandatorily placed under supervised isolation for at least 14 days.
PUBLIC SPACES
Wearing of face masks is mandatory.
Hand washing facilities and hand sanitizers must be set in place for use by everyone.
Temperature checks are to be done on everyone seeking entrance.
Physical distance of at least two metres must be maintained by everyone.
Mass gatherings and sport activities are prohibited.
WHO CAN OPEN?
Neighbourhood markets.
Banks and financial services.
Government offices—Staff levels 14-17 only.
Corporate offices (private sector).
WHEN CAN THEY OPEN?
Neighbourhood markets—3 times a week. 8am to 3pm
Banks and financial services—8am to 2pm
Government offices (Staff levels 14-17)—8am to 2pm
Corporate offices (private sector)—8am to 2pm
WHO CAN’T OPEN?
Schools
Churches
Mosques
Clubs
Bars
Gardens
In addition to the above, let us all continue to observe personal hygiene and other preventive measures to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus disease. Remember, stopping the disease starts with you and I. As such;
Wash your hands frequently.
Wear face masks whenever you are in public.
Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose and mouth in public.
Do not board a commercial vehicle with more than 50 percent passenger capacity.
Observe social distancing at all times in public.
