GOD IS WAITING TO BLESS YOU

God is full of blessings and He is willing to give all He has for His children. Abraham, who was a type of God the Father, was seen giving all he had to his son Isaac. Genesis 25:5 says, “Now Abraham gave ALL that he had to Isaac.” (Emphasis added). Just as Abraham gave all he had to his son, so God wants to give all He has to you as His heir.

But there are a few things the Lord expects from you to enable Him to bless you.

First, He wants you to repent from all your sins. Isaiah 59:1-2 says,

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short that it cannot save; nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.”

The Lord is never slow about His promise as some men count slowness. On the contrary, we are always the reason for the delay in the fulfillment of His promise. So many times, believers make it look as if God is incapacitated in helping and delivering them. Through their life, they present God as One Who does not answer prayers. No wonder the Bible says in Romans 2:24 that “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of His people.” Normally, praying to God is powerful and productive, but Proverbs 28:9 says, “He who turns away his ear from listening to the law, even his prayer is an abomination.” The prayers that come out of the mouth of the disobedient is sin. Instead of it to bring him deliverance, it complicates his problems. As a child of God, you cannot turn away your ear from listening to the law of God and then expect Him to turn His ear towards you to listen your prayers. Some make sacrificial, long prayers while walking in disobedience and they expect the blessing of God. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 15:22, “Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.” The Lord desires to bless you, but your sin can hinder Him and hide His face from you.

Second, He wants you to have faith. Unbelief can also be the reason God is waiting to bless you. Jesus came to His hometown with His disciples to teach and do miracles. But because the people thought they knew everything about Jesus and His family, they didn’t believe in Him. And the Bible says in Mark 6:5-6, “And He COULD DO NO miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He wondered at their unbelief. And He was going around the villages teaching.” Because of their unbelief, even though Jesus Christ came to work miracles among them, He could do nothing. They restricted Him by their unbelief.

Hebrews 3:12 also says,

“Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.” (KJV).

A heart of unbelief is an evil heart. Faith comes from God while unbelief or doubt comes from the devil. Therefore unbelief is evil. Not only that, it causes one to depart from God, thereby not being able to receive from God. Faith on the other hand draws one to God. Hebrews 11:6 says he who comes to God must have faith. So faith brings you to God and enable you to receive from Him.

Third, He wants you to call on Him. He wants you to ask Him. The Bible emphatically says in James 4:2, “You do not have because you do not ask.” Asking is one of the principles in the kingdom of God. Even though God knows what you need before you ask Him (Matthew 6:8), He is waiting for you to ask. Jesus told His disciples in John 16:24, “Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.” There is a special joy associated with an answered prayer. So Jesus, in assurance that whatever you ask the Father in His Name will be granted, says you should ask and you will be blessed and have fullness of joy.

Lastly, God wants you to give. Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you.” And  Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it will be given to you.” Another way to ask from God is to give to Him, His work and His people. When you withhold what you have from God and people, you are stopping God from blessing you. After the Lord finally blessed Abraham with a son in his old age, He now requested that Abraham should offer to Him his only son. Abraham obeyed the Lord and laid his son on the altar of sacrifice. When the Lord saw his willingness to give all – for all Abraham had was Isaac, being his heir – the Lord now said in Genesis 22:16-18,

“By Myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

The Lord was anticipating to bless Abraham. So, immediately Abraham offered all he had unto Him, He, without any delay, confirmed and established His promise to Abraham.

The Lord is more interested in blessing you than you want to be blessed. He has great thoughts for you and wants you to have an expected end. But if you are in sin or full of unbelief, He will be unable to do anything. However, if you are obedient and full of faith, you will facilitate His blessings upon your life.
