Money gives you freedom to make choices: Money gives you a wider variety of options in life. On the other hand, lack of money narrows your choices to whatever your meagre resources can afford, regardless of whether or not you like it or whether or not it is even good for you. And as we all know, majority of good and quality things in life, ranging from goods to opportunities, require higher financial implications.
Money enables you to execute your dreams: Every youth has a dream he/she plans to achieve. And whatever projects you want to undertake, require money. Do you plan to start a business? You need money. Do you plan to further your education? You need money. Do you plan to have a family in the future? You need money. Do you plan to build a house in the future? You need money.
Money provides the basic human needs: The basic human needs of food, clothing and shelter, are provided for with money. To conveniently and continuously feed yourself, clothe yourself and shelter yourself, you need money.
Money enables you preach the Gospel on a wider scale: God has commanded us to go into the world and preach the Gospel to all creation (Mark 16:15). To reach more people, money is needed. For example, missionaries require money for travels, materials and sustenance, even the local churches need money to go for evangelical outreaches in rural areas.
Further, preaching the Gospel goes beyond just telling others about the Word of God. If your unsaved neighbour is in need of food, preaching the Gospel entails you telling him about Christ and giving him food. If you don’t have the money to provide the food, it is highly doubtful that your preaching will make much impact because at that point, the most important need of your neighbour is food. The same is even said for brethren in church, how much more the unsaved. (James 2:15-16)
Money gives you the opportunity to give more: A popular saying goes thus “You cannot give what you do not have”. Do you desire to give to the needy, the orphans, the widows? You need money to bless all these lives. Giving a person in need 500 naira will feed him today. Giving that same person 500 000 naira to establish a business, will feed him for life.
Money teaches you independence and responsibility: Money enables you to stand on your own. With money, you can say goodbye to a life of dependence on others.
Money also requires responsibility to ensure it doesn’t develop wings and fly away. With money, you learn to be responsible in handling it, a person who is responsible with money usually exercises such form of responsibility in many areas of life.
You cannot live a life of significance without money: Living a life of significance goes beyond the individual. It extends to impacting lives around you and in the process of this, you will need to part with money from time to time to meet whatever needs you identify in your community.
Even the Bible recognises the importance of money. Ecclesiastes 10:19 concludes by saying “but money answereth all things”. Therefore, do not be deceived by the notion that money is evil. The Bible says it is the love of money that is the root of evil. (1 Timothy 6:10)
You do not need to love money to have money! The difference therefore lies in your approach to money. The proper approach is to see money as one of the essential tools to navigate life.
